Ask anyone that knows me well and they’ll tell you that I prefer to drink my water at room temperature and that I order water with no ice at restaurants. Not only do I prefer it this way, but it’s also good for my health. How? Well, cold water actually solidifies the oily foods that you consume which can lead to slower digestion. Once the “sludge-like” junk mixes with the acids during digestion, it becomes absorbed by the intestine quicker than the solid foods. This sludge can line itself along the intestinal walls and if it’s not flushed then there is potential for cancer or blockage. Warm or hot water can assist with this if you drink it during and after your meals. You may even want to consider drinking hot green tea as the Chinese are accustomed to drinking.
My Great Aunt used to order hot water with all her meals because cold water hurt when it went down her esophagus. Little did she know that she was doing her body a big favor. She lived to be 97 and lived on her own until the day she died. I think I’ll continue to follow her lead when it comes to drinking warm water… how about you?
