Typically, people who crave sugar have poor fuel-burning capacity in their bodies. What they really need is minerals such as zinc and chromium. I'm not saying that this is the answer to a "no more chocolate in 2012 resolution", but it could level out the huge fluctuations in the day eliminating really high highs and very low lows. You may find these minerals at a health food store or even at some of the larger shopping centers.
What really matters when you start a fitness program? I believe that you need to be open to change and be able to find the core reason/issue that has put you in the state that you are in now. It's important to break down the barrier or wall that has mentally and spiritually manifested your present state of being. Once this has been revealed and accepted then the transformational process has begun. You will then start to see the physical changes as you put your mind, body and spirit into action.
I recently read an article that compared wild fish to farm-raised fish. It stated that many consumers are choosing farm-raised fish over wild due to the mercury scare. I can understand the scare, but truly recognize that the farm-raised fish are not active and are being fed pellets of "filler-food" instead of the natural sources that they would feed on in the wild. This has made the farim-raised fish more fatty and they have less protein than fish from the wild. For instance, a farm-raised salmon offers 30-35 percent of it's weight as fat. Wild salmon has a 20 percent higher protein content and a 20 percent lower fat content. The farm-raised fish are also treated with vaccines and antibotics to ward off infection. With these type of facts, you have my permission to "go wild".
Many of us have had "senior moments" where we have forgetten things, but I was recently speaking/teaching at a senior home and "senior moments" didn't apply for these residents. I asked many questions as it pertained to health and wellness. The fun question was when I asked about their earliest childhood memory of health and wellness. I received fabulous responses. Some remembered working hard on the farm where they were raised and that was their lasting impression of health, while others remembered recess and gym class in school as their first childhood fitness memory. I want to encourage you to think of your first childhood memory as it pertains to health and how has that memory left a lasting imprint in the life you are now living? Take a look at how you eat, how you exercise, and how your lifestyle reflects your current health reality. You might be surprised at the similarities of how of your current health habits and how you were raised, unless of course you've made a conscious effort to do things differently.
Listen to your body—it has it's own language!
Written by Wendie PettListen to your body—it has it's own language! If you have aches or pains in a specific area when practicing an exercise (that are not the norm) then stop and move on to a different body part. It could just be that region of the body needs rest.
Shop right, shave calories! Become an avid label reader. Products that include the words light, natural, and healthy often don't have any of those attributes. Pay attention to the serving size, amount per serving and percentage of daily values, and vitamins along with the product ingredients.
Try to eat all of your fruits before noon. That way your body has the remainder of the day to burn off the natural sugars.
