Catching a Positive Attitude

Published in Untagged  by wendie | Comment (0)
Do you know someone that is always upbeat and positive, so much so that you think "How is this possible?" Truth be told, it's actually much easier for most people to have a negative attitude than a positive one. It takes practice and discipline to leave the grumpy agitations to yourself instead of sharing it with those around you. Now, I'm not saying to keep your feelings trapped inside but it would be great practice to only have one sound board instead of many. Positive people attract other positive people and this is key for all areas of success.  I don't know about you, but if I had a weight-loss goal and was hanging around listening to someone complain and be negative about their situation all the time then it would be harder to reach and achieve my own goal. Negative attitudes are just reactions to negative behavior. Your attitude may not change over night, but they can change with positive programming and practice.

I'm back from vacation

Published in Untagged  by wendie | Comment (0)

I haven't blogged in awhile as I was on vacation visiting my family in Texas. It was more than needed. It's always good to return to doing what I love with even more energy than before. I believe everyone needs at least one vacation a year that allows for rest and rejuvenation.

I certainly hope everyone enjoyed Easter or Passover, whichever you celebrate. My son really enjoyed spending time with his grandparents and his cousins during this time. We had the opportunity to go to an indoor water park called, The Great Wolf. This place is amazing - over 80,000 square feet and they have catered it to entertain kids of all ages, including a big kid such as myself. The water slides were more than exciting and to get to the top you had to climb MANY stairs. It was fun to sneak in a workout during the midst of play.

Glad to be back and will be blogging more. Missed you!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Here's to my fellow Irish friends. Enjoy the day!

May the road rise to meet you

May the wind be always at your back

May the sun shine warm upon your face

May the rain fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Sleep More - Eat Less

Published in Untagged  by wendie | Comment (0)

Many people barely get the sleep they deserve and usually end up eating more because they are up, awake, and bored. New data from the University of Michigan shows that you will likely eat 6% less if you replace an hour of awake time with an hour of shut-eye. Makes sense to me! Make sure to get your seven to eight hours of shut-eye as it will keep needless calories at bay.

Going Green?

Published in Untagged  by wendie | Comment (0)

Are you going green? Many of you may say, "Going what?". Going green has been the buzz phrase lately due to damage that people have caused the environment over the years. It has now caught up to us in many ways such as pollution in the air, decrease in trees that assist in carbon dioxide absorption and obviously give us oxygen, landfills that are getting out of control. These are only to name a few. I have to admit, I didn't always give much thought on recycling until maybe six or seven years ago. I started doing it out of pure convenience so my trash wouldn't overflow and then I noticed I started feeling good about myself when I put recyclable items in the recycle bin. I read an article once that stated that if we all recycled our trash we could eliminate harmful greenhouse gases by 1.5 million tons, which is comparable to taking 1 million cars off the road (and this is in Minnesota alone). Recycling has also allowed for 20,000 jobs and adds close to $3 billion in the Minnesota state economy.

It may seem like a small gesture to recycle, but it can make a difference in your state and the world. To dive into green living further go to Oprah's site. She has lots of great tips for your family.
